Elwanda C. Richardson

Elwanda C. Richardson is the Chairman of the Board for the Kansas City Performing Music and Arts, Association (KCPMAA) a not-for-profit organization, which has been in existence since 1994.  She is member and Director of Music at the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ in Kansas City, MO, and Music Director for the Kansas City Mass Choir.  She is a director, composer, and Gospel singer with twenty-five (25) years of private classical piano training.


Elwanda was a previous touring artist with the Kansas Arts Commission, and past Kansas Arts Commissioner.  She established and operates her own publishing company, ANTBERCAM Publishing, which is licensed with the Broadcast Music Industry (BMI), and is also a writer/composer affiliate registered with BMI.  She is a member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America New Music Seminar Committee, The Harry Fox Agency for Music Publishers, The Gospel Music Association, Harmony in a World of Difference, Chapter Representative for the Kansas City Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc.  and previous Project Eagle Children’s Miracle Network for Smiles Volunteer.  


Elwanda's compositions have been sung by many church choirs and selected at the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc., the Kansas University Medical Center Inspirational Choir Music Arts Workshop, Kansas City Performing Music and Arts Workshop, The Gospel Music Association Academy of Gospel Music Arts Seminar, the Gospel Music Workshop of America Women of Worship, and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.


Elwanda received an award for her original composition "Miracles, Do You Believe?" composed for the Children's Miracle Network Children’s Choir (produced by Anne Peterson), and also for composing "The Rainbow," the first composition written for the National White Coat Ceremony, as ceremony that is presented at almost every academic medical school in the United States.  She has performed before former Surgeon Generals M. Joycelyn Elders, M.D. and C. Everett Kopp, M.D., and sung the Star Spangled Banner on seven separate occasions at Kauffman Stadium for the start of the Kansas City Royals baseball game.


She has received a number of awards and accomplishments such as: Gospel Music Association Song 97 Award, Kansas City Kansas Mayor’s Proclamation, Project Eagle Community Volunteer Award, Lupus Foundation Kansas City Chapter Community Volunteer Award, East Hill Singers (Lansing State Correctional Facility) pianist; and Kansas City, Kansas Commissioners Election Award (for the original composition used during the campaign).  


Elwanda has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Business Management, and a minor in Religious as well as a Master's of Business Administration degree.  She is married and has four (4) children, and ten (10) grandchildren.
